Vixen Fishing Team

The Vixen fishing team got its start aboard the 55 foot Hatteras sportfish boat, Vixen in 2000. The team then switched to a 56 ft Viking sportfish boat beginning in spring of 2004. During that time, fishing on the Vixen or on a variety of other boats around the world, the team won numerous awards and released dozens of billfish including white, blue, striped, and black marlin, as well as Atlantic and Pacific sailfish. This was in addition to catching tons of tuna as well as other blue water species including wahoo and dolphin.

Awards and Records

Below is a partial list of the awards the team has won over the years. Either aboard Vixen or other dive boats, the team also has dove the ocean’s waters from the Florida Keys to the British West Indies, to the Bahamas, Panama, Costa Rica, Mexico, Caymans, to the blue hole of Belize, and on to Utila Honduras, St. Kitts, St. Marteen, Saba, and Hawaii to name a few of the places. After burning a 120,000 gallons of diesel and covering enough miles to have nearly circumnavigated the globe twice, we sold the Viking to pursue inshore species including tarpon in the Keys, and inshore fish on our new 26ft Shearwater Carolina Flair bay boat. While we still fish blue water, our focus is shifting over the next year or so to other species including triple tail, pompano, tarpon, permit, and rooster fish to name a few.
